Mr. H's list 2: Top 20 Collaborations in Music

20. The All-American Rejects + The Pierces - Another Heart Calls

This song isn't popular, it was never a single, and it was released two years ago. This one is based almost entirely on my own opinion, it's a personal favorite. Their voices are perfect with one another.

19. Timbaland + OneRepublic - Apologize
On the other hand, this song IS popular, and on the 86,000 songs Timbaland raps in, this is probably the only good one, there's a reason it has more views on Youtube than any other rap song. If it weren't for OneRepublic, this song wouldn't of been much of anything.

18. Diana Ross + Lionel Richie - Endless Love
Ranked as one of the best songs of all time by Billboard, it's one of the best movie-themed songs, and one of the only soul songs I'd ever bother to listen to.

17. Paul McCartney + Michael Jackson - Say, Say, Say
Before their relationship went down in flames due to Michael Jackson buying Paul McCartney's songs, this was the second of two duets they did, and the better one of the two also. (Other being "The Girl is Mine" on Thriller)

16. Lady Gaga + Beyonce - Telephone
One of the main reasons this is on the list is because of the music video, you see the real connection when you watch it. It's the current world's two most powerful women in music, together.

15. Carly Simon + James Taylor - Mockingbird
Recommended to me by my mom, a song that's sang together in a really pretty and upbeat fashion, I've listened to the song a few times, it's not my favorite but the two do great together.

14. Kid Rock + Sheryl Crow - Picture
I hate Kid Rock, and I don't like country, but these two did a great job. I first heard this song on the radio BEFORE I knew it was Kid Rock and I liked it (now it's a different story, I'm biased, what can I say?). My sister's a fan of this song, too.

13. Brandy + Monica - The Boy is Mine
Two young, emotionally distressed, and angry women disputing in this song, a retaliation to Michael Jackson and Paul McCartney's "The Girl is Mine". Was #1 for 13 weeks, not easy for any old artist to do, especially a collaboration.

12. Stevie Nicks + Don Henley - Leather and Lace
Another recommendation from my mom, we both agreed that we're not into these two. I'm not a fan of Stevie Nicks and I don't like The Eagles, but they do great together in this song.

11. John Lennon + Elton John - Whatever Gets You Thru The Night
During John's "Lost Weekend", he had to entertain himself somehow. You have this song to thank for his surprise appearance in an Elton John 1974 concert.

10. Michael Jackson + Janet Jackson - Scream
Brother and sister, lovely isn't it? The music video for the song is the most expensive music video ever made, and you see the best of the both of them in it. Janet Jackson danced to this song at her brother's tribute at the last MTV VMAs.

9. Joe Cocker + Jennifer Warnes - Up Where We Belong
I didn't even know Joe Cocker sang this song until I did a bit o' research. Point being, you've heard this song, and they can sing damn well.

8. Lee Hazelwood + Nancy Sinatra - Some Velvet Morning
I consulted like three other lists for this song, it ranked fairly high on all of them, and I listened to the song and it was an automatic add to my iPod. It's 1960s trippyness at it's very best.

7. Christina Aguilera + Lil' Kim + Mya + Pink - Lady Marmalade
Girl Power to the God damn MAX. I have nothing else to say.

6. USA for Africa - We Are the World
Generic, amirite? Now the reason this song reached #1 is probably because all the proceeds went to Africa, not because the song was all that amazing, but any music lover can't deny that joy you get from seeing true unity among artists.

5. John Travolta + Olivia Newton-John - You're the One That I Want
My mom's still bickering about this song being so high, but think about it, it's awesome. Alone, these two aren't too good of singers, in my opinion, but together they made an almost-perfect song. The only flaw is that nothing is perfect.

4. Queen + David Bowie - Under Pressure
A couple years ago when I heard this song, I exploded with joy. This is BOWIE and MERCURY. SINGING. How dare that idiot Vanilla Ice steal such a masterpiece.

3. Run DMC + Aerosmith - Walk This Way
It's hard for a rapper to do any rock song (in the 80s, nowadays it's considered involuntary slaughter). Walk This Way is one of the best hard rock songs on the planet, and Run DMC somehow managed to make it into a good rap song. Props.

2. Rolling Stones + Merry Clayton - Gimme Shelter
Most people don't even know who Merry Clayton is, I didn't. I've always loved this song but I never actually knew her name, she's still not the biggest name on the planet. But one thing is true, she OWNED that song. You have to respect anyone who can make SQUEALING sound good.

1. Rob Thomas + Santana - Smooth
I'm being generic, I know it. This is probably #1 on many other amateur lists, but there's a reason for it. If anyone else other than Rob Thomas did this song, it wouldn't of been #1, anywhere. It wouldn't of won multiple Grammys, and you would only be able to recognize it due to Santana's signature riffs. I'm not even the biggest fan of this song, but when it comes down to it, the collaboration is perfect.
